City Looking To Move Forward With Community Center

The Clayton City Council discusses potential funding sources for renovations at the Clayton Municipal Complex.

Clayton City Manager Cissy Henry says that the Georgia Mountain Regional Commission visited City Hall two weeks ago, discussing the renovations planned for the location, specifically in the community center and the kitchen area.

What Henry asked the council was to endorse her pursuing funding sources.

“I just wanted the council’s approval to start looking for sources of funding whether it be local or another government financing to move forward with the renovations over here.”

Henry explained why it is important to pursue funding for the renovations.

“We’ve been here for two years, and we’ve got people that are wanting to use the community center over here, but we still don’t have the heating and air, we still don’t have the roof fixed we still don’t have a bathroom.”

The city has tried to receive funds in the past, but in some cases, has been unable to do so due to City Hall being in a flood plain.
