City Discusses Board of Education Sewer Rate

The Clayton City Council further discusses how the Rabun County Board of Education is billed for sewer.

A meeting between representatives from the city and Rabun County School Superintendent Matt Arthur  took place on Monday, and at Tuesday’s Council meeting, the next steps were discussed.

Holding firm to what he said the week before at the City Council’s work session, Clayton City Attorney Mitch Baker recommended waiting to make a possible change to a consumption based rate for the Board of Education until a separate irrigation meter can be installed, “so that both sides can actually look at the numbers and see what the comparison is between what a water based billing method would be and what a sewer based billing method would be.”

The council made and approved a motion to continue for one year billing the Board of Education based on numbers discussed with Arthur Monday, with the stipulation of continuing negotiations to eliminate surprises at the end of 2013.
