Christmas Lights going up in Clayton

The holidays are here!  Proof of that can be seen throughout the City of Clayton as crews are currently hanging lights, tells Clayton City Manager Cissy Henry.  “We’re excited for it to be the holiday season. We will have all the lights up and the town decorated prior to Thanksgiving. We turn the lights on a couple of days before Thanksgiving because we have our Christmas in downtown on Good Friday.”  Henry thanks city workers for their efforts to brighten the city for the holidays. “Our Streets Department is in charge. They do a very good job. They hang all the star lights and the flag. Hopefully, before too much longer you will start seeing garland and maybe some other decorations.  We decorate out here in front of our building. They work very hard on this every year. The city spends a lot of money during the holiday season to make it more festive and hopefully to bring in tourism.” The decorative street lights will serve as the backdrop for Rabun County’s Christmas Parade through downtown Clayton on Dec. 7.
