Charity Lane a Success

The finale of a benefit for non-profits takes place over this past weekend.

Tammy Whitmire, one of the organizers of “Charity Lane,” tentatively reported that over $18,000 was collected at the gate of Charity Lane over the two weekends.

“We’ll have the exact numbers once everything’s counted, but by everything I’m being told, it was a wonderful turnout and the non-profits made quite a bit of money for themselves, so that’s wonderful!”

Whitmire said the exact number people to drive through Charity Lane is difficult to estimate.

She also said that on Saturday night, the gate collections totalled just under $5,000, and that even a rainy Sunday night was successful due to some hard working volunteers.

“Even with the rain we had just under $2,000 taken up at the gate,” said Whitmire. “It was raining so much there at the end they were just soaked out there collecting donations.”

The money that was raised is split between the participating non profits.
