Candidates Discuss Office Location

The Sheriff’s race is on the ballot for the General Election, and the two candidates participated in a debate on Friday.

One issue that has received attention over the course of the race was discussed, and that is the location of the actual office of the Sheriff.

Challenger Shawn Wilson said that he would move the office to the very front of the building; however, Incumbent Sheriff Frank Andrews defended the reasoning of its current location.

“What Mr. Wilson failed to mention is when you have an office up front, everybody sitting out in that lobby can hear what you’re saying through those walls,” said Andrews. “There’s times when people come in to talk to you and they want to be in private.”

In regards to accessibility, Wilson mentioned putting a Facebook account into place to be utilized in a manner similar to the Habersham County’s Sheriff’s Office.

“It alerts the citizens in case you have an amber alert, or you have maybe something bad going on in your neighborhood.”

Early voting for the November 6th General Election is going on now and continues through November 2nd.
