BUI on Lake Burton

One is arrested on a BUI charge over the weekend.

According to arrest reports on file with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, twenty eight year old Allen Alexander Woodward of Atlanta was arrested on the charges of operating a watercraft under the influence and operating an overloaded vessel.

Ranger Anne Alexander with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources says that she and a deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling Lake Burton near LaPrade’s Marina around sunset Saturday when they observed an overloaded pontoon.

Ranger Alexander says that Woodward was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. The threshold for boating under the influence was lowered to .08 this year.
