Board of Education Discusses Nutrition

The Rabun County Board of Education met last night.

One topic discussed at the meeting was school nutrition.

School Superintendent Matt Arthur says that the schools are having to meet federal qualifications regarding school meals, and can receive 6 pennies per plate from the federal government should they meet those standards.

Arthur says that throughout all of this, the students are the board’s primary concern.

“We’re more concerned with the kids eating and having enough to eat, which this plan limits also,” said Arthur. “It’s another federal mandate that we are working hard to meet.”

Also at the meeting, the board discussed a policy regarding the tuition of non-resident students.
