Arrests made for Motor Vehicle Violations

Rather than receiving tickets, two recent motor vehicle violations landed individuals behind bars.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that 19-year-old Walker Reed Jones of Lakemont was arrested on Aug. 6, for DUI and failure to maintain lane.  A deputy was dispatched to the area of Tiger City Hall and observed a suspicious vehicle fail to maintain lane and initiated a traffic stop on Georgia 15 at Pro Turf.  The deputy observed that Jones’ eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and he was delayed in answering questions. Jones was arrested after failing several sobriety field tests and was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the two charges.  The second arrest occurred on Aug. 12, when 22-year-old Jawaun Singletary of Baltimore, Maryland, was cited for driving without a valid license and failing to obey the Move Over Law. A deputy was observing traffic in the school zone on Georgia 15 at the intersection with Seedtick Road in Clayton and saw Singletary fail to move over for an emergency vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the roadway.  Singletary was arrested and booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the two charges.
