ARDEO recovers $20k illegal narcotics

Neighboring authorities in Habersham recently unveiled a significant amount of illegal narcotics after executing a search warrant in Cornelia.

According to Special Agent Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Community Supervision, the Department of Corrections’ K-9 Unit, and the ARDEO executed a search warrant at John Mark Sim’s residence in Cornelia, 277 Hubert Harris Road.

The search warrant was the culmination of a 6 months investigation. As a result, authorities seized six ounces of methamphetamine, five ounces of marijuana, a handgun and $1,660 in cash.

According to Posey, the estimated street value of the illegal narcotics is $20,000.

Sims, 52, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana.

Sims was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
