Airplane Crash Kills Two

A small aircraft reportedly bound for Rabun County crashed in South Carolina over the weekend, killing two.

Chief Deputy Sprouse with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina says that the plane took off in North Carolina eventually bound for Heaven’s Landing on Friday.

The plane went missing, and Chief Sprouse said that a search ensued.

“They were receiving a beacon in the lower part of our county, so they called us and we sent our officers out to search the area,” said Spouse. “They were sending some planes in, we also contacted our Highway Patrol and DNR to help with the search. The DNR plane actually spotted the wreckage.”

That wreckage was found on Monday, and Chief Sprouse says both of the occupants were deceased.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
