Man Tased Three Times by Clayton PD

A Clayton man is tased three times during an incident late last week.

According to a report on file with the Clayton Police Department, Benjamin Lewis Watts of Clayton was arrested Thursday night on the charges of drunk and disorderly and two counts of obstruction of law enforcement.

On Thursday, officers were dispatched to the Universal Joint in Clayton at the request of Rabun County EMS and Fire Services as a man was laying on the ground near the front door in the rain.

After officers arranged for Watts to obtain a ride to his mother’s house, he ran towards the vehicle even after officers warned him he could slip and fall on the wet concrete.

Watts did slip, and officers tried to help him up, but the report states he nearly struck an officer.

He then resisted arrest, and an officer’s taser was deployed three times before Watts was finally placed in handcuffs and in the patrol car.
