76 East Shutdown Due to Fire
Late night traffic was hindered by a semi-truck on fire yesterday. It happened around 10pm, when the brakes on a tractor trailer headed towards Seneca,S.C., down Hwy 76 east near Stekoa Falls, over heated, caught fire and ignited the back portion of the trailer. Station 1 in Clayton was quick to vanquish the flames with a knockdown of only 15 minutes, but the road remained closed into the three o’clock hour this morning, due to cleanup of the incident. Rabun County Fire Chief Daniel Johnson said no one was injured in the fire.
