Boggs Mountain Calling for Support

Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter continues the push to regain support.

On Thursday, Danny Benson spoke to the Clayton Rotary Club.

He explained why keeping the shelter open was vital to this community, as opposed to only having an animal control facility.

“If we’re an animal control facility, there is no question,” said Benson. “Every five days, we’re going to turn the toaster on, and all these animals are euthanized.”

Benson says that there are two major things required needed to prevent the shelter from closing on October 31st.

“The reality is,” said Benson, “we have to know there is support out there, both financial and community support, to be able to go forward.”

This follows the announcement that Benson made at the Rabun County Commission’s special called meeting earlier this week.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues to look into the shelter.
