60 attend 20 Year Comprehensive Plan Meeting for Rabun Gap

A large crowd heard unincorporated Rabun Gap’s first 20 Year Joint Comprehensive Plan update at Rabun Gap Nacoochee Middle School Monday night.  Cherie Faircloth, a Rabun Gap resident and blog writer of Rabun County On The Record was pleased to see so many people interested in planning for Rabun Gap’s future.  “The meeting went beyond our expectations. We had over 60 people attend. It was a very active and involved group. Everyone was very excited to have a chance to say how they wanted to see Rabun Gap in the future.  Most of the people that attended were residents. We had a few elected officials, representatives from some of the authorities, and we just couldn’t have asked for a better more involved mixed crowd. Our next meeting will be July 23, to form our vision statement for Rabun Gap.  So, we do invite everyone to that meeting as well.”  The meeting was facilitated by Adam Hazell, Planning Director for the Georgia Mountain Regional Commission and the Department of Community Affairs.  Every five years the community plan is updated. This 20 Year Joint Comprehensive Plan will contain a roadmap of Rabun County created by citizens for local government to consider as communities develop.
