2019 stats for Rabun County Fire Services

Last year was a busy one for Rabun County Fire Services, explains Assistant Fire Chief Justin Upchurch.  “We ran 1,847 responses with 36 of those being structure fires. We had 19 other multi-station calls, such as brush or vehicle fires close to buildings.  We worked 171 motor vehicle collisions and 148 false alarms. We conducted 11,357 training hours and did 1,740 fire safety education contacts. We installed 197 smoke alarms with 133 given out during the recent Red Cross blitz.  In addition, we replaced and put into service Rescue 5 and Rescue 6.” Rabun County Fire Services covers 361 square miles with 12 Volunteer Fire Stations, 200 Volunteer Firefighters, 17 Fire Engines, 11 Tankers, 11 Mini Pumpers, and 3 Fire Boats.
