Will Clayton Have Decorations On Poles This Year?

The City of Clayton looks to make changes in the way that they display decorations.

Clayton City Manager Cissy Henry explains the situation behind the city of Clayton, and Georgia Power.

“It was about a year ago that we were notified from Georgia Power that we could no longer put decorations on the poles, because they were not engineered to withheld the weight of the Christmas lights that we have put on the poles for years.” says Henry, “so, therefore, the city council has not signed an agreement to put anything on any poles.”

But, with the issue concerning more than Christmas lights, but with decorations for the upcoming Foxfire Mountaineer Festival, Henry says that the city council has agreed to put the decorations on the wooden poles, rather than the metal poles.

The Clayton City Council will meet tomorrow at 4pm.
