Wildcat Athletics: From a ‘Cat to a Lion

Another former Rabun County High School athlete has announced his decision to continue their athletic career into college.

Senior Eli Gipson, known for his speed on the gridiron and the basepaths has decided to stay close to home, and will attend Piedmont College to play baseball.

Gipson ended his senior season with the Wildcats with eye-popping numbers. He finished with 17 stolen bases, 9 doubles, 3 triples, a home run, and an amazing .519 average, while only striking out twice.

Justin Clutter, Head Baseball Coach of the Rabun County High School Wildcats, said “He has worked tremendously hard for this opportunity and he had a great senior season. Piedmont is getting a strong student and athlete, but a tremendous young man as well.”

Gipson is the third baseball senior to announce their plans to further their athletic career, Alden Wright signed a scholarship to play baseball for Maryville College in Tennessee, while Tyler Harris received an offer to play football for Western Carolina University as a walk-on.
