Voter Turnout Numbers Higher than Last Primary Year

The most recent voting period, which began on May 2nd, and ran until last Tuesday, saw many Rabun County residents head to the polls, and cast their ballots for the candidate they best saw fit for their respective offices.

How did that compare to the same primary 4 years ago? According to records from the Rabun County Board of Elections, 4,470 total registered voters participated in 2012, compared to 4,738 this year. That number is 51.46% of total registered voters in Rabun County. Early voting numbers were among the highest in the state, Rabun finished 26th in the entire state with 3,066 participants.

A runoff is in the works for State House of Representatives, more information will be coming at a later time.
