Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Appreciates Support from Residents

Due to current events concerning law enforcement, many cities and towns across the nation have shown support for those who don a blue uniform, including our community in Rabun County.

In downtown Clayton, businesses have showcased blue lights so show support, and a “back the blue” ride was held last Saturday locally. Speaking with Chief of the Patrol Division for the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Watts, he described the scene of the ride on Saturday.

“There was probably 25-30 participants in the ride.” says Watts. “We had four deputies in the ride, and two Clayton officers in it as well.”

As far as the support that residents of Rabun County shows as a whole, Deputy Ashley Free says that it is greatly appreciated.

“We are very grateful to our community, because our community is great. We have never questioned (if) our community supporting us.” says Free. “Being able to drive to work every morning and see the blue lights in downtown Clayton is just a reminder of how much our community stands behind us. We know that they will be there for us, as well as we will be there for them.”

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office greatly appreciates the continued support the community has shown in recent weeks.
