Party Like It’s 1962

Today is election day around the state of Georgia, including district 8 and Rabun County.

The only office up for election in Rabun County today, is for district 8 house between Kent Woerner and Matt Gurtler. The headline in this race, is the residence of these two candidates. Both candidates are from Rabun County, so no matter the outcome, the next elected representative will be the first representative from Rabun County, since Knox Bynum, who served as representative from 1959-1962. However, the district map has been restructured since then, which means that either Woerner or Gurtler will be the first Rabun County native to serve in the current 8th district.

Elections will take place today inside the Rabun County Civic Center until 7PM this evening.
