New Candidate Module to be Introduced in 2016

For most cities in Rabun County, 2015 is an election year. But the Rabun County Board of Elections are looking ahead to the future.

The Board met yesterday to discuss a variety of topics, including ways that the state of Georgia helps voters can get information about candidates. Board of Elections member Tammy Whitmire explains what changes are coming next year.

“The State is introducing a new candidate module that we will be using next year. The good thing for the voters is when the candidates present their information, and we upload it into the system, they will be able to go to the Secretary of State’s website, and if that candidate has any kind of information, they will be able to find that information on the Secretary of State’s website for the counties.”

While the new module seems to be an easier way for voters to connect with their favorite candidates, Whitmire says that there may be some concerns.

“If (the Secretary of State’s website) is the only place the voters are getting information, then if something goes down… that might be an issue or a problem.”

Whitmire also says that the Board of Electors will gain more information on the new candidate module in December, when they take part in their state training.
