How Does Rabun County Voter Turnout Compare to Other Northeast Georgia Counties?

Early voting is winding down for the runoff election for District 8 house between Rabun County natives Kent Woerner and Matt Gurtler. Many Rabun County residents have exercised their right to vote over the last three weeks, but how does the county voter turnout compare to other counties in the 8th district?

We spoke with the board of registrars from Towns, Union, and White Counties for this story, and Rabun County is ahead by a wide margin. As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 1,272 voters from Rabun County had participated in early voting. Next on the list was Union County, where 664 voters have cast their ballot. For Towns County, 454 people have voted a republican ballot, while 46 have voted non-partisan. Finally, for the portion of White County that district 8 represents, a total of 32 have participated.

Early voting closes on Friday at 5PM in Rabun County, election day is July 26th.
