GHSA releases new region alignments

Last week, the GHSA released the attendance numbers for each school in the state, and put them into classes based on enrollment. Today, the Georgia High School Athletic Association held a meeting in Thomaston to place schools in regions.

Rabun County will stay in Class AA, and will compete in Region 8 for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years.

Other schools competing in region 8 for the next two years, are: Banks County, Elbert County, Monticello, Oglethorpe County, Putnam County, and Social Circle.

Oglethorpe and Social Circle will be the only to teams from the current alignment to stay in region 8. Riverside Military moved up to AAAA… Union County is now in Class AAA… Washington-Wilkes and Greene County moved down to A.

Football schedules will be posted at a later date.
