Lamar Hardman Alley Sr.

Lamar Hardman Alley Sr., 90, of Lakemont, Georgia passed away October 23, 2016 with his family at his side. Lamar was a lifelong resident of Lakemont, he was born in the home above Alley’s Grocery. Lamar was the son of the late Paul Alley and Sarah Gipson Alley. After graduating high School he served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. He then joined the army reserves and served 27 years before his retirement. Lamar worked at Alley’s Grocery most of his life at first working with his father. In the early 1960’s Lamar became the owner of the store and operated it until 2008 when he retired. He was a member and Deacon of Lakemont Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Alley.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Alley; two sons, Lamar Alley JR. (Linette) , Bartley Alley (Kim) all of Lakemont; one daughter Kay Wilkerson (Ronald) of Wiley; one sister Mildred Tice of Clayton,; five grandchildren, Michael Alley, Liana Welborn, Melissa Scruggs, Melinda Lowe, Blake Alley and Seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday October 25, 2016 at Beck Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM.

A funeral will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday October 26, 2016 at Lakemont Baptist Church with Rev. Jewell Gaines officiating. The burial will follow in the Joy Baptist Church Cemetery.
